Why you should be wearing your duvet as a scarf.

Your winter wardrobe just got a whole lot warmer (not to mention a heavy dose cooler)

The padded scarf trend first made an appearance at Balenciaga a few seasons ago, when creative director Demna Gvasalia showed an oversized electric blue sleeping bag scarf emblazoned with a campaign-style logo in red, white and blue.

Quickly picked up by the likes of Moncler, Rick Owens and a host of other brands, padded scarves remain the most insulating accessories of the season (despite the fact that, in fashion terms at least, winter is officially over).

Though the notion of wrapping a duvet around your neck might sound a bit 'derelicte', in reality there’s something particularly appealing about a big puffy plastic thing worn over a classic suit, or a textured coat: the contrast between fabrics looks playful and surprisingly chic. What's more, a quilted scarf will actually keep you warm, unlike a knitted thing which is full of holes.
