If it seems as if the ever growing cadre of celebrity offspring are becoming more and more entrenched in glitz, glamour, and society’s upper eschelon in the last decade or two, you’re not alone. Celebrity offspring are increasingly filling in the niches their parents typically hustled for in their own youth.

Nothing seems to underline that privilege more than events like the upcoming Bal des Débutantes. Otherwise knowns as Le Bal, the annual ball brings together high society from around the globe under the guise of haute couture, featuring dozens of young, fabulous men and women. This year, none other than Ava Phillippe — daughter of Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe — will make her debut at Le Bal this November.

Other reported attendees include Steve Harvey’s 20-year-old stepdaughter Lori; Charlotte Bell, 17, daughter of soap opera producer Bradley Bell; and Jeanne Malle, the 16-year-old great-niece of French director Louis Malle.

To be invited to Le Bal, it is reported, one must not be a spoiled rich kid. But having good looks, charm, and famous parents seem to be de rigueur, nonetheless. Previous attendees have included the children of the likes of Sylvester Stallone, Forest Whitaker, and plenty of counts, dukes, and duchesses from around the world. Beyond that, there have been attendees stemming from more humble backgrounds, including bloggers, students with outstanding IQs, and a winner of the 2015 Google Science Fair.
