Recently, you may have seen a mysterious statement shoe on the ’gram with a bulbous sole that looks primed to launch its wearer off the ground—influencers like Yu Masui and Liron Eini, as well as the singer Kim Petras, to be precise.
The sneaker, tagged to the label Shoes 53045, boasts exaggerated proportions that make the foot appear a size and a half larger than it is and comes in lollipop hues of candied citrus and Popsicle blue, plus the standard white and black.
The sole is tiered: One layer is perforated, the other is a slice of clear bubbled plastic. As it happens, this wickedly clever creation comes from footwear master David Tourniaire-Beauciel, a French designer who has been the brains behind many of the most innovative shoes on the market today, including Balenciaga’s viral Triple S sneakers.
