Pre-loved styles a consign of the times.

Clothes find a second life, shoppers save money.

As fun as fashion trends can be, buying clothes just for the sake of buying something new can put a huge stress on our planet (not to mention our budgets). Far better to buy things you actually need and love, and will wear.

The fact is, season-to-season fashion requires a huge amount of water, power and electricity to produce a single garment. The energy required is significant enough that we should not be throwing these pieces away when the trend has worn out, or when we’re a little tired of them.

Which brings me to the beauty of consignment shops. Consigning is awesome because it allows a piece that has been pre-loved to go to a new home, therefore prolonging its life. Just because a particular item of clothing may not fit your personal style anymore or be in vogue doesn’t mean that it isn’t perfect for someone else.

All of the products that don’t get sold by fast fashion retailers will end up in a landfill. You should never ever throw away your clothing because it should never suffer that fate. If you choose not to consign, then donate to Goodwill or Salvation Army, because they will recycle what doesn’t sell there.
