Teacher told pupils she had been shot in made-up messages

Alexandra Slay lied to her pupils at Epsom and
Ewell High School claiming she had been shot in combat
A senior maths teacher at a school in Surrey has been struck off after she lied to her pupils about being shot in a war zone.

Alexandra Slay, a head of year, fabricated a story about being in the Australian army and told pupils she had been seriously injured and “lost severe amounts of blood”.

The 34-year-old sent one of her students more than 2,500 emails and messages, some of them from an imaginary lieutenant telling of Ms Slay’s made-up war exploits.
